Janet Markwick

Commercial Performance Consultant

Janet works with creative businesses identifying sources of value, developing growth plans that embed that value, while building the capacity to deliver ambitious profitable growth through actionable transformation plans.

It is rare to see left- and right-brain working at such an equally furious pace, but with Janet you get both barrels. Janet’s creative empathy is easily matched by her commercial acumen, making her a great ally for both clients and agencies. She has an ability to see the bigger picture and yet still focuses on the finer details that are required to make transformation really happen.

Janet is a true change agent, fearless, full of energy, curious and ultimately focused on what matters most: turning strategic objectives into commercial reality. She has an ultra-rare capacity to span both disruption and the status quo to embed and drive change throughout Organisations.

Janet has held senior financial, marketing, and commercial roles at both Coca-Cola and Sony, where she was Director of Marketing Communications Investment EMEA. There she co-led a team of 74 marketeers and procurement specialists. In this role, in 2000, she was one of the first ‘brand clients’; to decouple production and went on to create Cannes award-winning work.

Janet joined WPP in 2007 as Grey London’s CFO and became Chief Commercial Officer EMEA in 2012. As CFO she was instrumental in driving nine years of double-digit profitable growth, establishing Hogarth as an in-house partner to support Grey in winning major new business, before Hogarth was acquired by WPP.

Janet drives a powerful agenda to broaden commercial understanding across creative businesses, by empowering people to play bigger roles and introducing new ways to capture, measure, and report value, ROMI and other key KPIS. Janet has introduced commercial creativity metrics to many agencies, production companies and client business to drive and support profitable growth.
